Game Preview: Westbrook v. Gorham (Friday, August 31)

The Westbrook Blue Blazes (0-0-0) look to open their 2012 season with an upset win on the road against the Gorham Rams (0-0-0) Friday night at 6p.

Pre-Summer Physical Assessment Results

Here are the results of the 2012 Pre-Summer Physical Assessment we took on Monday, June 11:

The percentage attached to each result represents how you compare to American boys your age, according to data compiled by the President's Fitness Challenge.

So let's say you're 15-years-old and you completed the 1-mile run in 6:20. According to this data, your time would be in the 85th percentile, which means you are able to complete a 1-mile run with a faster time than 85% of the 15-year-olds in America.

Or, let's say you're a 16-year-old who completed 22 push-ups in 1 minute. According to the data, your performance would put you in the 15th percentile. This means that you're able to complete more push-ups than 15% of 16-year-old American boys. This, of course, also means 85% of your peers are able to complete more push-ups in 1 minute than you are currently able.

In the graphic above, red ink depicts the performances that are below the 50th percentile, regular black ink represents the performances between the 50th and 74th percentiles, and bold black ink represents those performances in the 75th percentile and above.

Summer 2012 Kits

Produced by Westbrook-based print shop Xtreme Sportswear, the 2012 summer kits will be used during training sessions and games throughout the summer session and will then be recycled as program-wide training gear throughout the 2012 fall season.

Training Plans: Monday, June 11, 2012

The boys' soccer team will be conducting its pre-summer physical assessments at Olmsted Field on Monday, June 11 at 2:30p. The assessment--which will include a 1-mile run, a push-up test, and a sit-up test--will help each player prepare for player evaluations in August.

Intrasquad scrimmages on the upper field will follow the physical assessment.
