The percentage attached to each result represents how you compare to American boys your age, according to data compiled by the President's Fitness Challenge.

So let's say you're 15-years-old and you completed the 1-mile run in 6:20. According to this data, your time would be in the 85th percentile, which means you are able to complete a 1-mile run with a faster time than 85% of the 15-year-olds in America.

Or, let's say you're a 16-year-old who completed 22 push-ups in 1 minute. According to the data, your performance would put you in the 15th percentile. This means that you're able to complete more push-ups than 15% of 16-year-old American boys. This, of course, also means 85% of your peers are able to complete more push-ups in 1 minute than you are currently able.

In the graphic above, red ink depicts the performances that are below the 50th percentile, regular black ink represents the performances between the 50th and 74th percentiles, and bold black ink represents those performances in the 75th percentile and above.
