Game Preview: Westbrook v. Massabesic (Thursday, September 6)











The Blue Blazes (0-1-0) will take on the Massabesic Mustangs (0-1-1) Thursday night at 6p in Waterboro.

Westbrook lost 10-1 to Gorham on Friday, August 31, but had its Tuesday night home opener against Deering postponed due to inclement weather. Massabesic tied Deering (0-0) on August 31 and most recently lost to South Portland 7-1 Tuesday night.

Westbrook has dominated the Mustangs since 1988, winning 23 of the 25 meetings over that 24-year span. However, Massabesic secured its first win over Westbrook last year with an early 3-2 result.

Blazes' Gillis Named 'Player to Watch'

Blue Blazes' midfielder Owen Gillis ('14) was named one of the Portland Press Herald's "25 Players to Watch" during the 2012 season:

A third-year varsity player, the speedy, highly-skilled Gillis will make the
offense go for the Blazes.

Gillis scored four goals and had one assist during his sophomore season.
